  1. Hey this is fascinating, I did not know there was a link between seashells and masks. It is even more fascinating, since each one of you did one of these images more or less independently, I would guess.

Looking at these images/symbols from a dream interpretation point, ‘the seashells represents security and protection. You are not showing your true self or real feelings.’ And I think the same is probably true of the mask.

An interesting aside is that the a scallop shell represents female sexuality. I am not sure any of the shells are scallops.

Anyhow – fascinating and wonderful to see more of your work!

    Best wishes – c

  2. I really would like to see some dialog get started – the work is so interesting & unique!

  3. Hi, Christian.
Thanks for your interest in our work!
We always do our images separately, so I never know what would be Camille’s interpretation of a subject. Which make this project very exciting to me. Somehow there is always a link between our images.
And your analysis makes the connection even stronger, I didn’t know he meaning of seashells, and now it gives me new reading of this diptych.
To me the whole “superhero” concept is about hiding one’s true self behind the mask, and I like wearing my “masks”. But sometimes I feel that I cannot be a hero no more, insecurity takes over and my soft nature shows itself.
Guess this is my new reading:)))

  4. Well Natalia – I think that is a good one – I especially like your reference to “…my soft nature shows itself…” which of course it does in the photo.

Really looking forward to your next post!
